4th January 2006

Quietest day so far. Surf was blown out again on the North Shore, so we packed up and headed back to the wild west.

Tracks was small but perfect head-high sets. All four of us surfed, SP now recovered from his chest infection. Good fun but again crowded. It appears that we find reasonably uncrowded spots, unload, then 50 guys paddle straight out. It was, however, far less intimidating than on the busy weekends, they could all do with staying "home" for the next few days and giving those tarpaulins a damn good clean. Scruffy sods.

Makaha wasn't breaking properly and four guys on longboards mincing it up. Most breaks were affected by the wind so we headed back to the North Shore.

Drove around in the afternoon, doing the rounds of the Haleiwa surf shops and clothing emporiums. Took a spin to the western most point of the North Shore towards Ka'ena Point, one of the first big wave spots. Big walls of white-water hammering across the shallow inside reef.

Chilled out. SP cooked spag bol. Got drunk on Rosé.
